I was born in Urbino (Italy) on 1st October 1969.

I studied Physics at the University of Bologna. After finishing my studies, I went back to the hills of the Marches where I live two lives.

In one life, I teach and carry out research activity in the environmental field at Università Politecnica delle Marche, travelling the world for conferences and publishing scientific works on renewable energy sources. In the other, I am the author of appreciated books of fiction which have received numerous national awards.

At this point, maybe I should really describe who I am and why I am doing it.

I should probably try to answer the question I am most often asked, that is how do I manage to reconcile my research activity as an environmental physicist, my work as a University professor with the time spent making up bizarre stories and describing characters who are partly fictitious and partly real.

The most honest answer would be: I just don’t know. However, since this would not be a satisfactory reply, faced with unrelenting curiosity, I would try and venture some hypotheses.

Most of it is certainly down to my genes: what with my parents and my grandparents, literature is in my DNA, to the extent that deep down I have often felt it was my scientific side more than the humanistic one that I had to justify.

In addition, if looking for things in common between these two worlds, I would find the same aptitude to observe with a watchful, almost analytical, eye all that surrounds me. The odd behaviours of humans as well as, more in general, the huge laws of nature. Not to mention the same daily need to draw from fantasy, imagination and creativity, in the lab as well as before a blank page.

So here is the answer, here are the keywords of my life: fantasy, imagination and creativity.

Because one life is not enough.
